The sound of rain
When you occupy with work, sometimes everything around you disappear or invisible. You are no longer sensitive and appreciate your surrounding. It’s like taking a bullet train where the view flashing in front of you. You can’t enjoy it and you can’t even describe what you see.
I am glad for taking 5 days leave this week so I am present in the beginning of rain season in Bogor. I am aware when the lightning strikes and the feeling afterward. I become aware and appreciate my senses. It’s not something I take for granted.
In a way, I understand the need of Gen Z to prioritize their wellbeing. Sometimes it’s difficult to find a balance of work and wellbeing. The work and school environment can be source of depression because it’s been mold that way. So, the implicit demand from Gen Z to change the work and school system considered, sadly, as “non-sense”. It’s also heartbreaking that they were being labelled lazy, less resilient, easily give up, weak mentality, etc. It is harder to change the mainstream system where the reproductive, productive, and social works divided and rewarded differently.
The sound of rain, if you listen it carefully, can convey many emotions. It’s not supposedly heal or solve your problem. It makes you aware that there are things that out of your control and we don’t need to conquer the nature to live our way.
